Tutorial 1- FPGA configuration failed

Obviously a newbie question … Can syn and generate appropriate tutorial.bit file but niether front panel or impact will download it …

Seems that the device ID’s do not match …

I think the right part has been selected … xc3s400-4pq208 in ISE ver 6.3…
Any idea?

thanks Leigh

Leigh,

I’m not sure precisely what your doing with Impact, so we can’t be of much help there.

Can you download any of our sample bit files compiled for the XEM3001v2? All bit files for the xc3s400 and/or XEM3001v2 should be ~ 208KB. Check the samples directory in your installation.

If you can give us more details about your tool flow, the board you have, etc, that would help.

If you’re new, I recommend experimenting with the Getting Started guide and the samples in the installation directory (try First and Counters).

Garrick

Thanks Garrick,

Those sample XEM3001v2 files would not download either …

After some experimentation I found that all is well if I disable “enable asynch transfers” in frontpanels preferences.

Strangely it was able to detect the device and indicate it correctly in the drop downbox … but not make long file transfers.

Leigh, do you have Windows 2000? We’ve only seen this problem in Win2K and only on certain hardware.

Anyway, I’m glad you found a fix.
