PipeTest

Hi,

Just thought I’d post a quick note about a problem I had with PipeTest, and a solution.

Installed Frontpanel on a fresh Windows XP Professional SP2 installation, on an Intel PIII 745 MHz. Frontpanel works fine. When I tried to run C:\Program Files\Opal Kelly\FrontPanel\Samples\PipeTest\wxWidgets\PipeTest.exe I got an error mesage complaining that MSVCR71.DLL could not be found. This DLL exists, however, in the FrontPanel directory.

Possibly unrelated to the solution, I installed Python and wx from the Opal Kelly CD.

Then I copied MSVCR71.DLL and MSVCP71.DLL (both located in the FrontPanel directory) to C:\Windows\System32

I restarted the computer.

Now PipeTest starts fine.

Hope that’s helpful to somebody,

Aviv

Thanks for the note. In more recent versions of the installation software, I’ve moved the sample executables to the same directory as those DLLs.

Microsoft doesn’t recommend installing those DLLs in the system directory any longer because other applications could remove them during uninstall. Unfortunately, it means that several copies could be lying around.

Cheers,
Jake
