Ever thought of porting frontpanel to some PDA Operating systems. A PDA would make an excellent frontpanel/USB interface.
I know of some commercial equipment (like blood gas analyzers) that have gone to PDA interfaces instead of keypads and such. You can put dozens of screens on them as well as some pretty advanced custom software.

Yes, we’ve given this some thought. The main hurdle here is the availability of PDAs with a USB host interface. Some have it and there are CF cards with USB capability.
Another obstacle is the USB drivers for the device itself. Once these two things are overcome, porting FrontPanel to the PDA would be pretty simple.
It’s good to hear someone is interested, though!
